ABOUT MAGENTA SHORES GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Magenta Shores Golf and Country Club is a golf course and resort located on the NSW Central Coast. The 18 hole golf links course was designed by course architect Ross Watson and is set between the ocean, lake and Wyrrabalong National Park.
THE STORY BEHIND THE COURSE
The construction of Magenta Shore’s Ross Watson-designed 18 holes is testament to how a golf course can improve the environment and enrapture the senses.
Rated by Golf Australia & Golf Digest as one of Australia’s best, Magenta Shores is a links course set amongst some of the most unspoilt surroundings. Nestled on a pristine peninsular between Tuggerah Lake and the Pacific Ocean, the Club is only a 90-minute drive from Sydney.
During his inspection in the early 2000s, Watson recognised the sites’ markedly undulating profile. The majority of the site was covered in sand, which offered a blank canvas to particularly creative with the bunkering and green sites.
“I have been waiting for a site like this since I first began designing golf courses 30 odd years ago,” said course designer Watson.
More than 20 years on, it’s hard to imagine that every dune, bump and hollow is manmade. The masterful design gives the impression that the challenging par-72 course has been in the ground for many decades. Spectacular bunkering coupled with rolling terrain and ever-present sea breezes create a serene ambiance.
The outstanding result can only be described as a delight to the senses. In the years since Magenta Shores opened for play, the layout has evolved. Subsequently, these developments have cemented Magenta Shores among the best in the country, with expectations to continue climbing up the rank.
Moreover, the undulating fairways, sounds of waves and quality greens ensure the course will linger in the memories of the most discerning golfers.
The course also boasts impressive practice facilities. These include putting greens, a warm-up driving range and a chipping green with bunkers. In 2024, Magenta Shores officially opened its state-of-the-art indoor golf studio.

Where did the name Magenta come from?
Magenta is a relatively new area to be developed for residence, with the suburb being first recorded in 1991. The rolling landscape, coastal dunes and calming waters offer an undeniably stunning location. Subsequently, these picturesque surroundings inspired the name of our course. More specifically, Magenta Shores is named after the native flora coupled with the colour of the sky.
The Magenta Lillypilly, or Syzygium paniculatum, is a small sized, endangered rainforest tree. This tree is found across a 400km stretch of coastal New South Wales. Native to Australia, the Magenta Lillypilly grows bright pink, egg-shaped, edible fruit.
The Colour Magenta, commonly sighted among the clouds at sunset, is variously defined as a purplish red. The colour represents universal harmony and emotional balance in every aspect of life; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Therefore, the name Magenta Shores is the perfect fit for our stunning course.
